Quilting using tissue paper
 

If I use tissue paper pinned to my quilt for my quilting design...does it also work well with hand quilting? I see a lot of people use it for machine quilting but I don't see much reference to hand quilting.

I agree with Tartan. The only way you could get the needle through would be with a stab stitch. You can always try quilting a small sample, like a left over block.

I don't think I would even use tissue paper for machine quilting. Tartan is correct with the hand quilting use.

I just used it for machine quilting, as suggested by someone, thought it was great until I was done and realized that it does NOT wash out the little bits. my quilt looks bad where the dark fabrics are, and I washes numerous times

I tried using tissue paper for machine quilting but it was too fragile to stand up to my wrestling my quilt around in my machine. I found that parchment paper (the kind you use in baking) worked better. It was fairly easy to tear away but held up to wrestling around. I did have to use tweezers to get it out of the little points and such. It was a bit of a hassle but just did it as I walked by and happened to see it or as I was watching TV.
