Quilting in your Dreams

Does anyone else quilt in their dreams? I was doing problem solving in mine last night. Changing needles, picking out fabric, reading a pattern I dont even have, or know the name of.....

Yes, I once dreamed of how to sew two pieces of fabric together (it had weird angles) in a horse quilt I was working on, and I've also balanced bank statements in my sleep.

Yep, all the time! There is a theory that many problems can be solved while sleeping via dreaming. When you are asleep, your brain doesn't have all the outside stimulus that is present when you are awake. It gives your brain the opportunity to focus on the problem at hand! I have taken 2 different Psychology classes and both of them supported this idea.

Yes, especially when I am getting excited about a special quilt. Some of my best ideas came from my dreams.

Up until yesterday, I'd have said no. But I "woke" at 2:30 this morning....thinking about the next quilt. To say I woke isn't quite right --- all of a sudden I realized I was laying there, wide awake, eyes open, staring at the ceiling thinking of a quilt pattern..............sheesh!!!!!!!!

Yes, I also had a design problem once and the answer came in a dream. I've always been impressed by that!

: )

OH YEAH. If only it counted as extra hours.

Yes, there's been a few times where I've dreamed what kind of borders to put on a quilt, or a different way to arrange the blocks. It's awesome!

These dreams usually wake me up and I then jot notes on a pad I keep at bedside to be sure I don't forget things the next day!! This must be part of the disease called obsessive quilter!!

I was fretting about how to quilt a special quilt I was making for a gift, and I kept dreaming about it night after night. I started dreaming about how to arrange the blocks and went on to quilting it. You might say I was obsessed with it. I finally finished it and stopped dreaming about quilting. The only problem was I felt like I spent the whole night working instead of sleeping. lol
