My grandson is heading off to college in just a few weeks. This college is up North and gets pretty cold during the winter. Does anyone have a quick quilt idea for a college bound boy?

I like the rag quilt idea. Gather up all his old jeans and flannel shirts from mom. You could then even put W&N between, but realize that between the jeans and flannel it'll be very weighty.

I love the rag quilt idea, and flannel is so soft and warm!

I made this for my son in Washington. It's simple 6 1/2" squares surrounded by 2 1/2" borders and then 12 1/2"x 2 1/2" strip center surrounded again by 2 1/2" border. Easy as can be.
Backed in flannel. He says it keeps him nice and warm and he doesn't need that "extra" blanket.

I really like the looks of this quilt and it is great for a boy. If you happen to know what the school colors are you might incorporate that into the quilt scheme.

Flannel rag quilt  Quick easy and you can use solid colors or plaids to make it manly

Thanks. He was moving into his first apt and his colors were black, tan, ivory and dark red. He wanted something modern as well instead of the old fashion quilts I like. I just played with graph paper to come up with the design. It had to be easy and put together quickly. Using college fabrics would be a great idea.
