Quilts with curved piecing.

Sewing curves it not the issue I have with curves. Its the waste that comes from cutting pieces with curves. I have had my eye on a pattern , its all curved pieces, but can't bring my self to make because of the amount of fabric that gets wasted. And at the cost of fabric , it just would make me nutsy do have to toss out such a significant amount. Does anyone else have this issue... or has anyone found a pattern that uses the curved waste pieces ? Or have you done a scrappy with the "waste" curves? I would love to see it.

I really don't have that problem. I decide which scraps to save, which to donate, and which to use to fill the pet beds we make for our Humane Society.

I just like the look of curves in quilts that much.

don't toss them...either use them for paper pieced patterns or swap with someone who does. :)

I have read that groups take small pieces and recut to whatever will be usable pieces to make into charity quilts

I love making drunkard path blocks but draw around the templates onto fabric, making sure to but each one next to the other. I made this "petal" quilt with left overs.

I cut them nested, I use both pieces from the same fabric, so there is little waste. I do understand what you are saying. I also enjoy scrap quilts and paper piecing so little gets wasted.

I'm working on a curved pattern right now. Yes, there is significant waste due to the curves but the final result is worth it. I'm saving my scraps to give away when there's enough. There's some members here who will use scraps and selvedges for pet beds so by doing that nothing is really wasted.

I LOVE your petal quilt. It is so lovely!!! I don't have a problem with curved pieces, like the petal quilt. I cut close together and have little waste.
