I want to make one of the newer quilts that have the seams on the outside. I was told that I couldn't use just regular woven cotton fabric, but had to use something like flannel. Does anyone know what kinds of fabric could be used for this type of quilt?.

Thank you, Barb

I am pretty sure you are talking about a rag quilt. Flannel works great, but so does denim and other cottons. All depends upon your taste.

Do a search on this forum on rag quilts. I have made three and am working on my fourth. I used cotton on front and back and flannel on the inside.

Yes, definitely do a search on rag quilts, there are many posts on here. I have made one so far. I used cotton on both sides (front and back) and flannel in the middle as the batting. They go together pretty quick and easy. (I'm glad, so I can get a few done before Christmas. LOL.)
