UPS was just here with a package from "Quilts for Kids" (downy.com). I am so excited. I think I heard about this in Quiltingboard! I got a package with the neatest fabric for a small child's quilt. The colors are absolutely something else. The backing is orange with red large polka dots, the border consists of two rows; the narrow one is angled in the colors of the rainbow and the other is a wide band with bugs - cute bugs. The blocks are made up of lime green tonal and bright orange tonal and yellow with big bugs, happy bugs. It is adorable. I can't wait to get started on it.

I got to thinking - why don't we all take a few days off of what we are doing and make a quilt for these sick little children. I know I am and the directions said that it costs the same to send two quilts as it does to send one, so I am thinking - STASH!!!!! Make up another one with leftovers and send it along. It took about four days from the time I ordered it until I got it. They should make a sweet quilt to.

Just a thought, but I think a pretty darn good one and while we are sewing it together we can thank God we have healthy children, we have our health or are at least in good enough shape that we can do what we love to do and wish these children a Merry Christmas and Happy and Healthy New Year. :D Edie

I received my kit also :D :D :D I will be making a quilt or two from my stash to send back with the original kit.. They surely do pick out nice bright prints to make these out of!!! It is going to be fun making these up
There is another thread going about this in General Chit Chat, too

I ordered mine and told them I'd send a second one from my stash - I plan on quilting every Monday morning from 9 - 12 for children - I will do the Downy ones and then most likely the rest will go to our area CareNet - Crisis Pregnancy Center - I figure if I spend 3 hours a week I'll be able to do one or two a month...

My two are half done. This seems to be a great cause.

What a wonderful thing to be doing. I wish you all well in making your quilts for sick kids. It may be, for some, the nicest thing ever done for them. Go well.

I got my kit today while I was at work. Sooooooo cute and bright. I plan to make one from my stash too. Working on one for Church now....I make baby quilts for all new babies at our church and need this one by this Sunday, so will start on Downy quilt for kids next week. Can't wait to get started.

I agree it is really a great cause. I have done several for the local Arkansas Childrens Hospital (we make preemie quilts for them) and send them thru our local quilt guild. Plan on telling all the ladies at next quilt guild meeting about this web site and see if some of them want to make some too.

Thanks for who ever started this on quilting board.
