I HEARD ON THE NEWS THAT THERE IS A GROUP OR
SEVERAL GROUPS OF QUILTERS THAT MAKE QUILTS JUST TO SEND TO OUR INJURED TROOPS. I WANT TO HELP BUT DON'T KNOW WHERE TO GO TO DO IT. I HAVE RED, WHITE , & BLUE FABRIC AND A PATTERN SO I AM READY TO GO. ANY ONE HAVE ANY HELP ? :?: |
Go to google or yahoo and type in Operation quiet comfort. They work with the any soldier group. they accept small lap quilts and give you the supplies to make the larger denim quilts. You have to join the group and follow their specifications. hope this helps

Here are 2 websites that accept quilts for our troops. You can either send a completed quilt or just the quilt top & they will finish it. They are offshoots of Quilts of Valor:
http://www.persimmonquilts.com/index.html http://alyciaquilts.blogspot.com/sea...or%20Challenge The official QOV website is here: http://www.qovf.org/ Just think - if everyone on this forum donated 1 quilt to our troops, what an impact we would have!!! You are a wonderful person for donating your quilt. Would love to see a picture of it. |
Thanks for the info. I knew I went to the
right group for help. I love this site and the new friends and info I am receiving. |
Operation Quiet Comfort has a great need for liter quilts. I have 20 started. Need to get busy and quilt them. Afganistan is having very a large amount of injuries.

They are 36x60 they fit on the liters that the soldiers are placed on to be transferred to Germany or Italy.

just a tip/fyi.
NEVER make a quilt that looks like a flag that you intend to donate to an injured soldier. Flags are draped over the top of caskets and just the thought of being under the flag is very "uneasy" for many soldiers. Better to put those fabrics into a beautiful block quilt! |
I'm with you justwannagquilt no flag quilts or colors. They would make a solider uncomfortable. Best to ask group what colors should be used.
|
We don't make flag quilts but most of them are patriotic and the soldiers love them. Most don't want to use. Hang them on wall so they can take home. Tell us all the time how much they are appreciated and loved. They don't seem to realize people care until they get a blanket.
