I am looking for an organization that distributes quilts for wounded soldiers. I would like to make a few small quilts and would like to see them go to either wounded in transit or one of the VA facilities. Thank you

I think the organization you need is "Quilts of Valor" I think if you google them you will get information on what they need and want and what to do with them.
What a wonderful thing for you to want to do! |
Oh, and Welcome to the board from Southern California!

Most Guilds participate in this as well. Ours does. I have one I need to finish right now.
|
And welcome from Central California!

Our guild participates in "American Hero" quilts. They do have some guidelines as far as sizes, but you can google American Hero Quilts for the details.

Welcome from west central Minnesota!!!
There are plenty of programs around. I sew for Veterans, in small towns nursing homes and a local VA hospital skilled nursing unit. Mostly elderly, but a few young ones in the mix that due to injury or disease need additional care. You will find ur niche!! keep up the good works. |

citizensam.org also takes quilts for the wounded to use in the medivac as the planes are not heated.

Welcome from Kansas

I heard on the news that Walter Reed Hosp is closing down. They were one of the sites that accepted quilts for wounded soldiers. Sad to see the government cuts strike again on a much needed service area. crafty_linda_b
