Quotes for quilters!

I don't need to get organized, I need a bigger sewing room. Yep)

My husband lets me buy all the fabric I can hide. (I wish)

A clean house is a sign of a broken sewing machine. (My excuse for dust.)

I am not a fabric hoarder. I am the curator of an extensive fabric collection. (Ever growing)

Housework only comes before quilting in the dictionary. (Housework NOT in my dictionary)

sewingsuz 12-15-2020 09:16 AM

I like and agree with all of them. Thanks for posting this! Merry Christmas to you and your family.

I saw this one today....I am not self medicating with fabric. The lady at the fabric store wrote me a prescription. Well, she called it a receipt but whatever.😂 .

Rules of Quilting
1. Measure twice, cut once.
2. Cut the fabric, not the fingers.
3. The pointy part of the needle/pin goes in the fabric, not the fingers.
4. Don't bleed on the fabric. (If you ignore rules 2 & 3.)
5. Ignore the Quilt Police.
6. There are rules?

  • The biggest mistake you can ever make is being afraid to make one.
  • It's true I won't ever be able to make every quilt pattern I save but it doesn't matter. They inspire me.
  • Blessed are the quilters for they shall be called piecemakers.
  • Remember people will see your quilts long after you are gone - not your housework.
  • To sew or not to sew?. . . . What a silly question.

I like all of these quotes and live by all of them!!!

If you can't see a mistake from 5 feet away or find it after 5 weeks, it doesn't count.

Never be afraid to try something new. Remember, amateurs built the Ark. Professionals built the Titanic.. -- BonnieJP
Never thought about it that way. But it is so true. Titanic was the one to fail her maiden voyage.

Lol. My favorites are the funny ones y'all have posted. 😂. Here are some I've seen that crack me up:

It's not hoarding if it's fabric.

Fabricologist: one who has perfected the art of fabric stashing.

Quilters aren't greedy. They are just materialistic.

I'm too busy to be organized.

My Stepfather told me once that if you don't make a mistake, you are not doing anything.

It sort of is for me. My husband has no idea what I buy. And the truth is, he usually spends a lot more money than I do so he doesn't say a word.

juliasb 12-21-2020 10:04 AM

Yepper! all of that refers to me. Even the dust. It is getting close to sewing time again.

I'm just getting into a flying geese quilt and I am calling it "I Will Cut You". I'm using my new Accuquilt and the sashing has scissors printed on it. This is my new favorite quilt related saying.

DeborahScanlon ...... you had me chuckling about the WIPs,
thinking that there should be a part 2 ....

"So guess that means I finished 15 projects!!!!" :D

Watson 12-25-2020 06:36 AM

"My sewing room isn't messy, I just have ideas laying everywhere."

"It's not hoarding if your stuff is cool."

"Be brave enough to fail at something new." (This one is good for any new technique, of course.)

I have a sweatshirt that says..." I said I will not buy any more fabric till I have used up my stash...then I laughed and laughed...

Julienm1 12-29-2020 02:46 AM

I saw this on a tee shirt: In my defense I was left unattended!

Love this!

I love them all. I am relatively new to quilting (1 1/2 years, 5 pieced and bound, and only 1 I completely made.) Here are a few more quotes.
1. I just got this cup for Christmas - "Life is short, buy the fabric."
2. My friend tries to stop me from obsessing - "If I ride my horse by your quilt and I cannot see a mistake, it is not there."
3. Another friend trying to stop me from obsessing - "If you take out every imperfection, you will hate quilting."
