Hi,
I have been looking at this tool with the little plastic covers for safety pins in the Nancy's Notions Catalog. I have not really attempted machine quilting as of yet but would like to attempt it soon. Has anyone used these two things? Is it a helpful combination? I am a littel addicted to buying different gadgets and tools but wonder if it would be a helpful purchase or not. Thanks in advance, lots2do in New Hampshire |
I put those covers on all my safety pins. Can't have naked pins laying around! The pins will not jumble up in a tangled wad when put away open. That is worth having them. I use the tool to close and open the pins when using them for basting. It really is fast and saves your fingers. DGD covered a sweat shirt front with 100 of the covered pins for 100 day of school. She made the no. 100 using 100 of the pins. One tip: Use a pair of needlenose pliers to snap the cover on the pins. It makes it much easier then trying to pop the covers on with your fingers and some of them are hard to get on. The covers work with curved pins too. I found a great deal at Quilt in a Day site for the covers and tool when I bought them. Check there first.

Thank you so much for your reply!
Would 240 be enough to start with? I will check Quilt in a Day as well. Best wishes, lots2do |
I wouldn't be without the pin covers and Kwik Klip....love them!!
|
I have the Kwik Klip & think it's great.... I don't have the plastic covers & I'm happy without them.
If you want to ""feel" what the Kwik Klip is like without purchasing it....try out using a kitchen spoon...works good too..... |
Kwik Klip saves your fingers.........mine still look awful from basting my quilt last week. I just assumed quilters wore their ratty hands as a badge of honor. I'm off to figure out just what Kwik Klip is.

Joanns carries them so use a coupon.
I love them, so much help when pining. |
Hi lots 2 do,
The Quikclip is a great tool for the basting pins. I have tried the covers(just a couple) and don't see the need for them when using the tool - also, can't imagine taking the time to put all the covers on, but that's just me. I do leave the curved basting pins open whenI take them off the quilt and store them open - they don't seem to stick together much that way. Joann's carries the tool as well. fabric=fun |
Quilt In A Day site has them. Eleanor Burns.
