It seems like just last year (I'm sure it was longer than that) I made a raffle quilt and it did very well. No one else was making them. Then last night DH and I went to the gym and on the bulletin board there were 2 notices of organizations raffling quilts. Then when we got home DH had a notice from a FaceBook friend he was raffling a quilt for the English Club at school. These are lovely quilts, but I'm afraid people will get tired of seeing quilts for raffles. And on top of that, where were all these quilters when I was looking for someone to sew with?

We have raffle quilts at the hospital all the time and they never have problems selling tickets.

I just gave two pieces, not for a raffle but for a silent auction.

There was notice in the paper about a young GI who lost all four limbs and they were having a fund raiser for him.

I offered a quilt and then also gave a hanging that I had made since I thought it appropriate....it was the "old oak tree w/ a yellow ribbon"

What a worthy cause....makes me proud to be able to be a part of it.

There is always a raffle quilt at the local quilt show-every other year. It is usually absolutely gorgeous and well worth buying tickets for. I do agree there are a lot of these raffles lately. It is a good money maker and brings in more money than you could sell the quilt for...

Love the yellow ribbon quilt...KNOW the group appreciated your donations. Bless you.

The Yellow Ribbon is beautiful. How thoughtful of you to make it for him.

I think the raffles do well. I don't think the silent auctions bring in that much money.

I agree, but what can one say...

Wow that is an amazing quilt. Can I ask where you found the pattern for the oak tree. I do a lot of quilts for raffels and this would be an amazing quilt to do if you don't mind. Jade

Raffle quilts are always a big hit. We do them here and they look for them every year at the same place.

Awesome!

I found it after writing to you and the copy I have has "The Quilting Quarterly" on the bottom of the pages......and on the top of the page, it read National Quilting Day.

It was titled...
"Let's tie one on...FOR THE TROOPS!

I really can't remember whether it was in a magazine because I
don't recognize "the Quilting Quarterly"......or whether I got it off the internet.

If you can't find it, let me know.......and I will go and make a copy for you and send it out.
