Ok, so as soon as I find the rest of the flannel I need, I am going to make my oldest DD a rag quilt for Christmas. She has requested Chocolate brown and maroon. I bought some beautiful chocolate brown, but haven't found the perfect maroon yet. Anyway, I was wondering, I have most of the steps for a rag quilt down, but, what type of border or binding do you use. I guess what I am asking is,
how do you finish it?

Thanks for any information you can give me. :)

You can bind it or sew around the edges a 1/2" in, and clip the sides too.
Both ways look nice :D:D:D

I usually just rag the edges, I don't border or bind. But I do sew all the way around the quilt far enough in so the thread doesn't get cut when I cut the outer edge, usually about an inch in.

I like the sound of just sewing around the edge and ragging it. Thanks.

I don't border or bind. I just stitch around and clip the outsides.

I'm glad you asked because I will be making my first one and hadn't thought about the border.

What's nice about these is that borders and bindings aren't necessary.

The rag quilts i've made and my future ones have the ragged edge. And with my new scissors i got make it go souper fast.

I am soooo glad to hear that this quilt will be even faster, 'cause no need for a border. Thanks everyone for your help.
