I am making a rag quilt and have just begun to sew all my rows together. I completed sewing row 1 to row 2. I don't plan on sewing row 3 to row 2 until tomorrow. While watching TV tonight is it ok if I snip the sams on row 1 and continue to do so as I progress throughout the quilt. It is such a busy time of year for all of us, and I was looking for a way to relax yet continue to work on the quilt. This might seem like a dumb question to some, but I am soooooooooooo green at this! :roll: :roll:

Sounds like it should work as long as you don't clip where you need to attach the next row. I don't see why it wouldn't work?!

I surely dont see why you cant. who is to say when you must clip them.

I agree--it shouldn't matter! Wish I'd thought to do it that way. I thought my hand would break!

I just finished one a few weeks ago for my daughter. Was just supposed to be a throw, but the thing is huge! Anyhow, I snipped a little at a time just as you suggested while watching TV. I would sew 2 rows together and then snip, sew 2 more rows snip some more. Went well, came out great and my hands didn't get sore.

it's much easier on your hands if you snip as you go. as long as you only snip where you've sown. I wish i had known this when i made my first one! I could barely move my hand when i was finished.

that is EXACTLY how I do it and BE SURE to get a pair of those little 2 inch blade Fisker scissors to snip. This spring loaded style is perfect becasue it tkes all the ''work'' out of opening the shears for you and the power in those little blades make the work go pretty fast!!

Be sure to clean your dryer lint trap every 4-5 minutes after you wash it for the first time....they shed lint like crazy for the first couple of washing and drying cycles!!!!!

It is NOT a dumb question, in fact I think you are pretty smart, when I did mine I did all the cutting at once, paid a price in pain.......
