Rag Quilting

I wonder how many people prefer this type of quilting.

Any ideas?

Do you prefer rag quilting or traditional?

What's your favorite technique?

It all depends on the purpose of the quilt. I really like both. For a friend's cabin up North the rag quilt was a no-brainer. For a friend who lives here in the Valley of the Sun a regular quilt was my choice.

For a really fast and quick quilt, for toddlers in particular, rags quilts are great. I like doing both, but sometimes a rag quilt is just so easy and quick.

I made all my grands a rag quilt and put their names on the back. This was when they were younger and they loved to snuggle with them. Now I'm making all of them a regular cotton quilt with their names on the back. This is supposed to take them off to college! I like both.

I have made a ton of rag quilts. They are so fast and easy. Plus, they don't have to be perfect. But, I really like pieced quilts too. It all just depends on who will be receiving the quilt and how ambitious I am feeling.

I've made lots of raggy quilts over the years- it is a great way to use up pieces of excess batting- and the kids love them for play quilts, snuggle up quilts- take camping quilts- a great way to use up scraps of flannels, denims- what ever...so they are a fun *technique* ... but when someone asks what 'type' of quilter I am I've been told many times I am a pretty 'traditional' quilter (even though I machine quilt) I do a lot of applique, paper piecing, English paper piecing- many different techniques---rag quilts just fit in - when I get a request for one- or notice batting scraps are getting a little out of control :)

Thank you all for your replies! It looks like the everyone has done a rag quilt but it's not there "Go To" style of doing things. :)

Kids and teens love rag quilts. The raggedy the better. I get more request for a rag quilt from the younger family members then a regular quilt. I made so many I bought the Go rag die. That is worth every penny!
