I have only made rag quilts with flannel. Does anyone make them out of just plain cotton? Do they look as nice?

Lots of people do. I prefer flannel, but that is just me.

Plain cotton doesn't rag as nicely.

I have used cotton on the top and bottom, but used flannel as batting to help the seams rag better.

I agree, and I just like the cuddly flannel.

I have used homespun in a rag quilt

I guess I will stick to the flannel, too!

I use both homespun and flannel in mine. I'm working on one as we speak/type!
