Decided to take my rainy Labor Day, complements of Tropical Storm Lee (not complaining, we need the rain!!!), and create a quilt block I've been planning for a few weeks. I liked Eleanor Burn's Dora's Delight block from her barn quilts series, but didn't have the correct ruler to make it. Plus I wanted to add one more fabric in there and I wanted less of the light background. So here is my version. Now, my question for you is, does the block I came up already have a name? I designed it on graph paper, but I'm quite certain someone has already made one like it and given it a name. I'm hoping I have enough fabric to make a small quilt to sell. Then there the possibility someone already has it copyrighted and will the quilt police get me if I try selling it?

I don't know but it is a beautiful block.

A beautiful block! Love the colors, love the fabrics. I don't think quilt blocks are copyrighted..........you just go ahead and do your thing. Actually with those colors, I'd hate to sell it, I'd want to keep it for my very own.

To paraphrase what someone on the board stated elsewhere, "How can you copyright a triangle or a square?"

Thanks everyone. The colors are actually a little brighter than they show in the picture and are pinks, not lavender. Now, what shall I call it? Want to do 4 blocks on point and then maybe fill in with some 6 in. blocks in the corners to make it a wall hanging or lap quilt size. I have 2 fat quarters of each color, so I have to work carefully and see if it will work. I love these challenges!

Very pretty, I like the layout and colors. Especially if that's more pink than lavender :)

I love the colors. Your seams are matched so nicely. I am jealous, because mine are not so hot.
