Now what can I do? :| I held it up and it will never lay nicely flat there. I tried pulling it flat from the back--no luck. It didn't wrinkle under the other two pieces... just the dark one. Waaaaahhhh!
|
Could you try re-ironing it and lifting it while its still warm?
|
Just went over for a look and it doesn't really show on the pic. That's suede right? Well bearing in mind that I have zero experience of working with suede (!) could you sweep the mane out of the way, lay a damp cloth over it and press very gently with an iron? Or would that flatten the pile? I'm sorry - it's a pain...
|
k3n--it's not that one...it's the next one.
Reheat--huh... maybe that would work... |

Just call it texturized.
|
Did the pics disappear?
|
Maybe dampen the backing/batting behind it and steam it loose and move it? But your stitching could end up buckling it back in place...you may have to redo it also....
|
I didn't put up pics....
And-there are no stitches in it yet--it's just ironed and stuck. I'm going to try your ideas! I'll let you know what happens. I must confess... after getting the first one so far, I had a moment of bold confidence, so went in and placed the next heads and chests and ironed those babies tight! THEN, I remembered I needed to have the fringe (manes) UNDER the parts BEFORE ironing them. So--I scratched them up just half an inch in order to get the manes under, then reironed. It worked. Now this! I need a tearing out hair smiley! Ugh. I have the Splash of Fall project started--maybe I should switch to that! |
Lay the top onto a towel, that will help keep the nap nice... I just noticed the pic I was looking at was the one from the magazine... so disregard what I wrote about the stitches...
If after steaming, sometimes the adhesive doesn't want to stick again... just slip a little piece back under that area, press, remove the paper and press again  tweezers help here :D:D:D |
IT WORKED!!!!!!!!!! :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D
Okay--this will crack you up. I placed a dish towel under the horse head. I steamed it and gently pulled the horse up. It worked! I kept steaming and pulling until the whole thing was off! The eye, nostril and mane stayed in place on the head! Then I covered the wrinkled spot with a damp towel and steamed it smooth. (thank goodness for steam!) Then I turned the wall hanging sideways to get it back into position. After trimming the bottom from being stretched out, I covered it all with a damp towel and pressed it back on. I peeked and was so pleased to see the horse/suede was laying flat! When I went to pick the wall hanging up--I nearly died--the horse was on upside down!! :|        So--once again, up it came. All I can do is laugh at this point--I should have taken a picture. Not too attractive, but maybe it would have won a prize for modern art--title: dizzy horse. I had to steam the spot again--with yet another dish towel--so I wouldn't get anything stuck to it. Parts didn't stick, so I got some extra pieces of the wonder under without the paper and tucked it under the muzzle, ears, and sides and pressed again. And... drum roll... it's fine. I cannot believe it. It looked pretty bumpy when I first took it off.... I wa sure I'd have to make another. I'm going to go look at it again to make sure nothing has happened. Group hug of appreciation! You gals always rescue me!!! :-D |

Can't wait to see the entire piece all done! |

I did a search on this board for it and that is really cute!!!

using the suede must really give it additional dimension and realism. i don't know if i would have thought of that. is this for you or for selling? did you mention the size?

Size? I'll have to measure. It's, um, wider than it's supposed to be due to creative corrections. It's a wall hanging--40 some by 30 some. |
I saw what you are making on your other post. This is adorable. So glad that the other girls helped you save your project. So, so cute!
