Re: quilted wallhangings

I made my first wallhanging. It is a large stable season for Christmas and I fmq it in metallic gold. It is grogeous. However, when I hung it up, the bottom looked a little wavy as in "not straight down the wall" but rather a left to right wave across the bottom. I am started on another one and wonder if I should put another small dowel near the bottom to keep it straight. I think that would be a lot better (without having the ends sticking out on the bottom. What do you suggest? Pauline in Michigan

I did one and have the same problem only on the oneside, so I am using a dowle across the bottom putting the triangles in the corners on the back to hole it like at the top. that will work.

hi sounds like the dowel trick top+bottom would help with storage too---i am looking for an applique nativity[for next year]if this is a good one---- please where is the pattern from

that's why i always put cotton batting in my wallhangings. some have a thin layer of batting on top of the cotton, others just the cotton...it lays flat all the time... do practice your binding...if you stretch your binding when applying, it can cause a ripple..

I put another dowel on bottom and it solved the problem. If this new format were easier to use I would send a px. Wish they had kept the old quilting board.
