I planned to do nothing but sew today, since hubby was in school and it was to cold to go outside. I went into my sewing room and set down and started to sew. Then got a call from a friend. Tried to sew and talk at the same time. Ended up sewing one triangle to the wrong side. Stopped sewing till I got off the phone. Then I sewed it the same way as before. Yech!!!The third time I made another mistake. After the fourth mistake, I desided this was not the day to sew. Will try again tomorrow.
Any other experiences like this? And I was so eager to finish up my blocks for the Round Robin. Joyce |
Sometimes it is best to just walk away.
...and take the phone off the hook. :O)
I do this all the time. That's why I spend half my time (or more) here! Usually a 5 to 10 min. interval lets me get the upper hand.
Sometimes we're so intent on getting it all done we end up not enjoying it as much and then making mistakes. Take regular breaks and allow yourself to have fun.
Happens to me all the time. I give up and just walk away for a bit and then come back to it.
walk nothin', I RUN on days like that! And usually hide out because no matter what I do, it's not going to go well.
It's like sometimes you go out and everyone seems to be driving badly. Time to go home. |
I've had plenty of days like this. Those are NOT the days to sew!
When that happens to me, I know that I'm just not into it for some reason--too tired, other things on my mind, etc. Usually, unless it's my fibromyalgia acting up, a short break away from quilting is enough to get me back where I need to be to focus on it. I do use quilting as a nice distraction though, so when it doesn't work for some reason, it is especially frustrating...!
