With all the posts about people not appreciating handmade gifts,I wanted to share this story.
I made a memory quilt for a friend's mother four years ago. He had a HUGE party for her 90th birthday. I thought, what can I get her. I decided to make a memory quilt. In the center I had her name and then A WILD IRISH...I embroidered a long-stemmed rose. In each embroidered something about her, her likes, or accomplishments. SHE LOVED IT. He said everytime he took her out, she had to take the quilt along. She died the day after Christmas. We attended her viewing and the funeral. The quilt was displayed across the bottom portion of the coffin, across her legs. It was folded to show the center square. After the wake, we went to say goodbye to him. He said...."A piece of you went with her. She loved that quilt so much I had her covered with it". I still get teary when I think about it. So some people AND their loved ones do appreciate our gifts. Margie |

That is so touching...tears dripping...

Yup, me too - my eyes are flooded with tears right now. How touching - and I'm sure you are so proud to know that you made a difference in someone's life.

Had to get the kleenex. What a sweetie you were to make it for her. Just think she will have a quilt you made her in Heaven with her to show off to all her friends and family.

Lump in my throat. You made a difference. Be proud.
Happy New Year Annie |
Well, the reason for this post was not what I did...but I have been reading about all the quilters who gave gifts to UNappreciative people. I just wanted to affirm that there are those who value and treasure our work
