We are working on day/night # 2 of blizzard, (wind chills of -25°F). One van is stuck in a snow bank, the other one has a 5 foot drift behind it....and all the highways are closed. My DH is in Chicago, (50°F today), dealing with closing his brothers' affairs. Brother passed away just before C'mas, and DH is the only sibling. So...I am not going anywhere anytime soon. My neighbour a mile down the road will come and pull my van out once we are done with blowing and snowing.

Meanwhile, I have 10 pinwheels put together, and 30 more at the HST stage. Also got caught up on a couple of projects for a class I am taking. Tonight I will make a lable to go on a lap quilt for my MIL. (I hand embroider my lables...so a good evening project.)

What are you all doing for your New Years' weekend?

Sounds like the perfect evening to me. While hubby is watching all his taped football games, I will be on this board and hopefully stitching :)

I'm working on the baby quilt for my niece's little girl. She's the one whose mom said she didn't need it, but I decided to finish it and send it anyway. It's the weaver fever layout in purples and teals. I think (hope) it is going to be pretty. On Sunday, I leave to go back down to Austin to get my grandson. He just got back from visiting his other grandparents in Romania.

I am planning to do the Planet Patchwork mystery quilt. Haven't done one in a while and it's cold and nasty here, too, so it sounds good. All I have to worry about is taking the dog out when she needs it. Have a Happy New Year!

I would love to be snowed on like that...we have rain here added to the foot of snow we have out there. I am babysitting my grandbaby tonight so not getting anything useful done...but a whole lot of loving...lol

Just posted that I'm finally sorting the sewing/storage room. Good gracious. How did I get that much stuff in there.

Good luck with the quilting. Hope you don't need thread before the big thaw!

What a great way to spend a cold snowy stretch. Have fun. I hope it stops snowing and blowing soon.

Too much snow makes good quilting weather! Stay in where it's warm and quilt!

Wish I was sewing but haven't touched anything since before Christmas. I thought I would be able to get one quilted but that is not going to happen. Sitting here with my family watching tv and surfing this sight.

You are lucky to still have electricity. Any time we've had bad weather like that, we lose power. I've kept my space heaters here in the country because the electricity is iffy in bad weather.
It has been in the mid-70s here today. The bad weather missed us. It will be 20 degrees cooler tomorrow.

I've drawn off the Let Sleeping Dogs Lie pattern on EQ so I could make it an inch larger. I've picked out my fabric for my dogs, past and present. Tomorrow I'll cut it and start to sew.

Oh I miss living in Minnesota. We have a farm at Cook. I used to love taking the snowmobile to town because the roads were closed. It was only 3 miles but fun for me sonce I was a kid.

I've been off work for a week and have started a quilt for our bed out of flannel and doing a little fabric organizing.

I will clean up the pre-Christmas catastrophe that hit my sewing room. It's called "last minute gifts to be mailed in time". It's coldoutside, plenty of snow but so pretty. People have made snow and ice lanters with candles burning inside. After cleaning up my room (call a demolition unit? Dynamite perhaps?Or just a good scream?) I'll start planning for EASTER!!! My sister called from up north last night and asked for two dozen pot holders, easter themed. I made that amount for Cristmas and they were a success with her teacher collegues, Now we're early to avoid the inevitable panic, I can't even find my Panic Button, so I must get organized.Sorry for the long rambling, anything to put off cleaning! Happy New Year from Santa country!

I'm gathering together all my bits & pieces to make a piano key edging in bright colors for around a drab bear panel for a baby quilt. The whole panel is browns & boring, so I'm going to border it with eye catchers for DGGS due the end of January.
