I did a Nativity Wall hanging top fusing the different pieces. Since it is a wall hanging must I go back then and stitch the edges on everything too? What do you all think? :shock:

I wouldn't necessarily do that for a wallhanging. If it ever needs washing, I would just hand wash it and lay it out flat to dry. It is the agitation in the washing machine and dryer that typically causes edges to fray; heat is usually the culprit in loosening fused fabrics.

It also depends on what fusible you used. Some fusibles aren't designed to sew through; they will gum up your needle if you try.

Well, I recently did a project that also depended on fusible applique. It was a bunch of hands. I had offered to finish any hands where the original quilter couldn't do the sewing part of the applique. As I pulled some of the hands out of the envelope, some of them actually waved at me rather rudely. So - - - if you want to run the risk of Joseph waving his wand at the congregation, Mary falling backwards in the hay, or Baby Jesus rolling out of the manger - - - NO, you MUST not sew them down.

I would sticth down at least by machine. With time they begin to peel off.

Me too. I think I would stitch it though.

I have made many wall hangings using a permanent washable fabric paint. Its much faster than sewing if you don't have much time.
