How in the world did you ever get my morning picture on your avatar? LOL. The only Confederate Flag patterns I could find were here:

http://www.nvo.com/thebartlettpair/brochure/list.nhtml

With this site, you have to buy the pattern for $25. I know I wouldn't pay that much for a pattern unless I had to, but I found it.

http://www.kingskountry.com/free-macrame-lawn-chair-patterns.htm

This site, you have to scroll down to the "C" letter and you can click on the download button below the words Confederate Flag. It downloads like a sketch/pattern and where someone wrote how many yards. I don't think either of these will help very much but this is what I found. Hopefully someone on here has a pattern.

I made one with just cutting out squares, laying them out, laying the white stipes on top of them, and then trimming the big squares. It was easier than when I tried to do the individual triangles around the stripes. I laid an actual flag on the table to use as a template to match the angles of the stripes and placement of the squares so that the proportions would be correct.

Good luck. This was my first quilt and was a lot of fun.

That was ingenious Nina. I love innovation. And that is a beautiful first quilt!! I think this just might be the inspiration needed for her to make her Rebel flag quilt. :)

 ok Looks good,Any Templates available?? My GF asked, Soooo goood DebJ

DebJ 09-17-2007 06:03 PM

Sorry no templates. My pattern was made from brown paper bags. I just went to the friends house to measure the bed area where the flag was to be and went from there. I think I still have the brown bag patterns? Don't think I'll be using them again though. Toughest part was I had never done any applique (points in particular) so I signed up for a class only to have the instructor say she didn't teach sharp points, UAH!!! the frustration.

 Ah, Hopefully quilting will ease the stress of Today's world!!!

I was searching for something else and came across this post.  I made a whole cloth rebel flag quilt. I don't know if it is even necessary to post this but just in case you are still looking here is mine along with some others I have done. Actually this one is a quillow done for my Grandson Bruce. I have made 2 others and they are quilt with cross hatch quilting. Bruces was tied. Blue and white strips are appliqued so are the stars.

I don't think it's just the avatars, I think those people themselves have been banned.

p.s. It is very interesting how many posters in this thread have been banned, is it not? Things that make you go "hmmmm".....

I was wondering the same thing... why have several people suddenly been banned? Were we infected with a rash of trolls or something?

It wasn't "suddenly". If you click on their profiles, they've all been banned for quite some time. This is an old thread that someone resurrected....

Nina,

Your Confederate flag is great! I think it would even pass the "politically correct" police, since it is stylistic instead of being completely realistic.

toverly 12-29-2015 09:43 AM

As a true blue Ole Miss fan here, I grew up the Rebel flag at football games. I once made an Arrowhead block in red and blue and it immediately read as Rebel Flag. Stylistic without being a true rebel flag. One of these days, I'll make a lap quilt for those Ole Miss nieces and nephews.
