This quilt has been in my husbands family for a few generations - I get it out every year to decorate for Christmas/winter. It has never seen a bed and the fabric feels like brand new, apparently it won first prize and was put away in a cedar chest until I joined the family....I asked my MIL if I could have it to hang on my living room wall where it was enjoyed for a few years until we moved to the house we live in now.
It reminds me of big snowflakes but although I have a number of books with many vintage/antique patterns I can't find this one, and have always wondered what the name of the pattern is. Anyone have any ideas? TIA Joann |
Not sure what the pattern is but wanted to say how beautiful it is!!! If I had to hazzard a guess I would say it was a version of the sawtooth star. But I am no expert!!

It is usually called a feathered star. The Sashing is flying geese, I think. And it is beautiful.
|
I believe it is a Freathered Star Variation! It is a beautiful quilt. Well worth the ribbon! Luann

Not sure of the pattern, but it is a beautiful quilt, a family treasure.

I am thinking a sawtooth variation....it is a stunner, very cleverly put together and very effective in the two colours. Thanks for this wonderful heirloom with us.

Yes they are flying geese sashings. Lovely! Luann

it is a feathered star- very nice- what a treasure to enjoy!

The first words that popped into my head was "feathered star". I see flying geese as the sashing. Beautiful quilt.
