The first one looks like a pinwheel. Second one I haven't seen. Very pretty. Third may be flying geese.

The first one is Wheel of Fortune. http://quilterscache.com/W/WheelofFortuneBlock.html

The last one is an arrangement of HST but I don't know if it has a special name.

Thanks for the post Rebecca_S. The third quilt may have a name but it is just HST. Don't know if they are group or are they random. Nice quilts.

love that second one but no name comes to mind.

QuiltnNan 08-21-2015 05:47 AM

i'm thinking that second one may have 'thistle' in it's name... but that's just a guess and i can't find anything like it

I'm just venturing a guess about the second one - it may be a cockscomb flower. The shape is similar to a cockscomb and I've seen that open space near the top of the flower in several applique designs. Could not find an exact match in my books or online.

Thank you !

The first one sure is "Wheel of Fortune" Appreciate your help. I believe the 3rd one might be
"TENTS of ARMAGEDDON" but not really sure.

The first and second ones look hard to do.

Love the second one so very unusual and great colours. Agree wheel of fortune and HST are the other two.

The middle one reminds me of the Hawaiian quilts.

The first one has been ID'd relating to the Farmers Wife 1930s group as "Anne" block number four....check out:
http://www.quiltingboard.com/blocks-...ks-anne-april-. Its a 'bear' to make, coming from Laurie Aaron Hird's book 3, Farmer's Wife 1930s based the magazine of the era Farmer's Wife question: 'would you want your daughter to marry a farmer?' and the farming women answered...so the magazine published a number of letters and all her books are based on what the FW magazine published back in 1919 to 1934.

QB has allowed us to do the first: Farmer's Wife Sampler Quilt; the second based on the children who won a pony by selling subscriptions to Farmer's Wife Magazine, Farmer's Wife Pony Club, and now the FW 1930s. I have been luck enough to participate on all three. Wonderful leader, Honchey, and members who have joined us are the best of the best.

www.quiltscache.com also has the pattern...in fact, I believe there are three simliar patterns along Marsha's 1600 free patterns. Many blocks have many different names.

I'm not much help, but just love the hand quilting and the texture of the batting!
