Recommendations for books about choosing colors & fabrics for quilts

I put it all in the title. I'm looking for books that will help me make the best fabric choices for my quilts.

1. Something that will tell me the pit falls when doing applique like fabrics that are to transparent.
2. And how to avoid choosing the colors that won't work in a room where I had planned to use the quilt.
3. How to make the design pop.

And all those other things enquiring minds what to know.

Thank you for your suggestions.

I have searched for similar books and really did not find any on just those topics. But I also searched quilting blogs for colour advice and found a lot. One is called In Color Order, for a start. Often the bloggers have a whole section on selecting colours and fabrics for quilts and projects. Here is an example: http://www.quiltinggems.com/tutorial...rk-quilt-1718/

Color: the Quilter's Guide
by Christine Barnes is one source as well.

When I first started quilting I bought Color from the Heart by Gai Perry. The book has a series of exercises that help you learn about color. I did the first exercise and learned from it, but didn't do the remainder. I did feel that I learned from them, however, just by reading. Actually the best advice is to practice, and decide what you like. By making color decisions on your own you'll eventually find that you are noticing colors more everywhere you look, and that is a joyful thing.

1. You're the one doing the applique. If you think it's too transparent when you put it on the background then don't use it.
2. Use the paint chip of your room color when choosing fabrics.
3. Use brighter colors with black or pastel with white.

Alex Anderson has a pretty good book out about choosing and making colors work together.

Maybe you gave some smart quilter an idea for doing a book on the subject. It would be a lot of help for a lot of quilters.

Check with your local college library or bookstore for a basic book on color such as is recommended for beginning art students. The same principles apply to quilting as to any other artistic endeavor.
