This is in Mission, Texas near Hildago. There are approximately four ROPA's there, one right after another . I go to "Tres Demension" Usually ROPA USADA is on the building. Not all of them are 20 to 30 cents a pound. Some of them charge 50 cents a piece. The one next door to Tres (south) has sorted piles or barrels and some of prices are 5 for $1
Most of the towns in the Rio Grande Valley have ROPAs. |
I had really hoped these were in Waco or Ft Worth. Good for you for finding these.

Actually, many of the older table cloths are made of linen/cotton and will wear like iron. They are not too dense IMO.

Use the upholstery fabric to make tote bags or shopping bags for groceries. It will last forever.

I have so much "polished cotton" or "chinz" that I used for bedskirt and vanity skirt for granddaughters bedroom. I didn't pre-wash it so it stayed nice and crisp. Later I thought about using it for something else and pre-washed it. What a wrinkled mess. So I'm not sure it if would be good for an apron that would need to be washed occasionally.

Thank you ladies for all the wonderful ideas for the home dec and upholstery fabric. I think I can make lots of Christmas gifts without going to the store. Thanks again!!!

Check in the older section of your town. Chances are you will find one or more. These are a way of life in Texas along with Flea Markets. |
What good ideas - I love finding ways to reuse items that come into my house. I had some fleece scraps from some other projects and decided to try to make some preemie hats for my tiny grandson - my problem? There were no patterns for the size I needed, so I looked at a pattern, read the directions and did some measuring and came up with my own pattern. The hats were a big hit! And now my youngest son who has a birthday on Sunday thought he needed a hat also...so today I did more measuring, cutting and sewing...I think he is going to love the result! I know there is reason that I save all these leftovers and recycled materials! It is just SO much fun to make 'something' out of 'nothing'!
