Hi I have just been busy over the past few hours reclaiming the fabric from a load of old cotton curtains, boy have I got a lot of fabric. Way to go girls. and boy does it make you feel good by preventing wastage.

I love to recycle old clothes and curtains. I bought some sheer curtains at a yard sale that I'm going to use to make ghosts with for Halloween.

Probably the first dozen quilts I made contained pieces of family clothing. I still smile when I see one of those quilts

I love to reuse older things. I've been scrounging garage sales and thrift shops for 100% cotton clothing, fabric, sheets, pillow cases, and woven belts that can be taken apart and used for tote handles.

One of the first quilts I made used fabric from clothes I found and cut up. I loved the quilt, but some of the fabric didn't hold up and I ended up patching up a few of the patches. Don't get me wrong, I'd do it again, but I'd watch the quality and age of the fabric I used. Nothing wrong with recycling!! thats for sure.

I also pick up belts at garage sales and thrift stores. I reuse the hardware for my bags. A LOT cheaper than buying new, AND a whole lot more variety!

What a wonderful idea to repurpose those belts! Thanks for the ideas!

One of the Salvation Army stores here has weekly $1 sales for clothing. If I stop by I try to go that day. I have been picking up Large mens Hawaian shirts and plaid flannels. I almost have enough for a throw of each fabric. I choose the better manufacturers so the fabric is really nice.

Great idea with the belts!

Checked out Goodwill store that open nearby recently but no luck finding long sleeved men's shirts that I could use for quilt fabric. They did have several large size men's Hawaian shirts but they were priced at almost $9 each. Better wait until they have their sales. May in Jersey
