Red Glasses,Does anyone use these?
Eleanor Burns has these on special, and I was wondering if those of you that
have them, find they do what they say, or not. Plus, what if you wear glasses, (prescription), would you be able to use them. Thanks, Elaine |
I saw Eleanor Burns use them on the Fons and Porter show this week. They looked quite large. My guess is that they could just be placed over your prescription glasses. I have no opinion on whether they work or not- she seemed to like them.

I have used the Ruby Beholder (still have it but rarely use it now) but not the glasses, I'm sure they do the same thing by allowing the values of the fabrics to show rather than the colours. When I first started quilting in the early 90's they were very popular but now I never see anyone at retreats using them. I remember at that time people mentioned to go to an office store and buy a sheet of red plastic page protectors and they would work as well. I didn't look to see the price of the glasses, but maybe that would be another option for you?

I have the glasses. I bought them when they were $8 daily special at MSQC. I like them. I can look at all my fabric at once. They fit fine over my regular glasses. I take them fabric shopping with me.I use them like sunglasses, when done, slide the glasses on top of my head. I can't walk around with them on because I get dizzy but they are fine to take in a whole shelf of fabric at once. I can pick out the contrast fabrics in a second.

I have them also and like them, except if you have a lot of red fabric, you need a green screen. Having them in the form of glasses is very convenient as you have your hands free to resort the fabric.

I have always used my Ruby Beholder made by That Patchwork Place.

I too, use the Ruby Beholder, I haven't tried the glasses.

I have a set and do like them. they also in addition to the glasses have a clip on set, just like the clip on sun ones for regular glasses
|
I have a Ruby Beholder too. Somewhere. For me, it's just easier to set my phone camera to black & white and view the values of fabric that way.

The glasses are more fun then the ho hum ways. Why turn down the chance for a little nonsense now and then. LOL
