Red work patterns
I want to put red worked baby animals on a baby quilt. Where do I get the patterns or do I draw my own.?
Thank you in antisipation of your excellent replies. |
You could draw your own, use coloring book pages , or, Annie's Attic carry some. The ones from long ago were ( Aunt Martha's embroidery patterns) if you search Aunt Martha's you may find different places to purchase them. I still have a few of those patterns from my grandmother-- used a great set called ( Love Beneath the Willows) for a red work picnic quilt I made years ago- still a favorite. :)

What I have done n the past is put into Google "Redwork embroidery designs " and thousands of site come up to look at , pick a picture and print it off , you have the pattern you want .

Are you planning to do them by hand or machine?? There looks like there are published books:

You could also use any applique patterns. Just outline them in your red embroidery thread. There are lots of gorgeous applique patterns.

You could get a coloring book and just trace the items you want or you should be able to get something from the internet now as everything can be found there. I believe there is a website that has patterns you can print off. I know my granddaughters are doing this all of the time. Maybe try searching "coloring book animals." Good luck on your search.

Here is an old time quilt called the roly poly circus animals quilt. I always loved that pattern.

Here is the last one for you. It is pages and pages of old red work designs free from a graphic designer's site.
