? regarding quilting the layers together
 

I just got my quilt back from the long arm quilter...and I held it up to show my husband(who was standing in front of our bow window) and I saw daylight coming through my quilt! I don't think I should see daylight through a black quilt, or am I wrong? The daylight is coming through the pinholes where she quilted the designs.

Nothing I can do about it now- I'm binding it now and giving it as a gift in 4 hours. My girlfriend is getting those hot flashes now , so hopefully those pinholes will bring in some air :)

my fabric was purchased at my quilt shop (but can't remember the name) just that it was $11/yd.
My regular LAQ retired and sold her machine so I am trying new LAQs out. thinking I need to learn how to do this on my own machine....

Since you have no time to wash the quilt, toss it into your dryer for a few minutes. The holes should close up. They definitely will after it's first washing. They are completely normal.

I agree with ghostrider completely. The holes will close with the first wash for sure.

Spray it lightly with water and than dryer.

Put a damp washcloth in with it. The dampness will steam it a bit and that might help with closing the holes, too.

I agree that it is normal to see the stitch holes when a quilt is held to the light, provided it has not been washed yet.

Perfectly normal. As others have posted the first washing will allow the warp and weft threads to move back into place and those holes will no longer be there. The batting will also expand out to close them up. You probably never noticed before but it is the case with every quilt that is done by machine, not just LA. But because the quilt sandwich is manipulated so much on a domestic, many of those holes close back up just from all the handling, smooshing and manipulating needed to get the quilt through the small throat space.

NOT WITH A BLACK QUILT!!!! You will have fuzzies all over it. And you don't have time to wash it to get them off. Spraying with water sounds like the way to go, IMO.
