Remove brown stains caused by iron leaking ?
 

I finally threw away the iron that was spitting brown liquid - It was a great iron until it started to spit and leak. Sigh.

How do I get rid of those stains?

I've tried soaking in various solutions.

Right now, I'm thinking just cut around the spots and that I should have pitched the iron sooner than I did.

i hope somebody reports a method that works.
i'm rarely "lucky" enough to have that happen until i am pressing a block or top.
cutting around is just about never an option.

Oprah has claimed many times over the years that she has a solution for every stain out there. Ya might look up Oprah and stain removal. Just a thought.

I keep a small container of white vinegar by my ironing board for this oopsie. The straight vinegar onto the stain most times removes the stain. I dab it on with a white cloth. Sometimes it needs to be spot cleaned afterwards with a gentle soap rub and rinse to get the rest out. Depending on how much stain came out of the iron. Pat dry and press.

By the way, you can buy the iron cleaner solution that you pour into the iron reservoir that removes the iron deposit to make it like new again. Irons are expensive!

I empty the water when I quit with the steam press so it won't rust. Threw out several irons before I started doing this.

Easiest way is to not use water in your iron!! Those "mister" spray bottles are wonderful with using a dry iron!

This is what I do as well.

Aren't the brown stains rust? My carpet cleaner guy says he can get anything and everything out of carpet except for rust. Knock on wood, I've yet to have that problem.

If it *is* rust, would CLR work?
