Removing ink - especially from quilting thread

Has anyone tried this product? It's called Eliminink. I am wondering if it works as well as I hope it does:

I have never tried it but it does sound interesting.

I've never seen it, but I believe, based on the msds sheets I found for both products, that it's similar to Goof Off. I found a few comments and reviews that recommended mixing in a bit of Dawn, then using a toothbrush (and patience) to scrub.

Thanks for that info, Peggi. I didn't really look for reviews elsewhere. I was wondering if it had that same smell and sort of oily texture as goof off or goo gone. I already have both of those and was looking for something "cleaner"

I used to get ink out DH"s shirts by making a past of dishwasher detergent (or using the gel stuff). I would smooth the stuff over the ink spot, let it sit, scrub a bit and rinse it out. It worked great and did not discolor the shirt.

Thanks QuiltnLady1
What kind of dishwasher detergent did you use? I tried Cascade, and it bleached out the color. (This happened on an old sweatshirt, so it didn't matter - I just added more detergent here and there, and now the sweatshirt has spots all over).

I used to use hair spray...that worked pretty well too, but aerosol is a no no now, and I haven't bought hair spray in years.

The Eliminink article said, "This product is not intended for consumer or home use. It is to be used only in a commercial environment. Please read all instructions and requirements indicated on the product prior to using." Nuff said.

When I was in beauty school we used hairspray to remove ink from white uniforms and it worked great. But you would probably have to dip it in cool water to rinse the hairspray out.
