Thanks for a wonderful story, just a lesson to all those out there who think a quilt can be ugly! Beauty is in the eye of the beholder for sure!! Sentimentality can and does play a huge part! What a nice thing to do!

I too am repairing a quilt, sewing loose seams and darning holes. It is commercially made--machine sewn and hand quilted. I am very sure it comes from China and sold at, well you know where. Anyway, this quilt was given to my friend by his father and he treasures it as it is the only thing he has left from his father. While working on it, I came to appreciate its "beauty" as seen through the eyes of my friend. I'm not that great a quilter but happen to be the only person my friend knows who sews. I am always truly humbled by the amount of emotion a quilt can generate in a person.

What a beautiful story!

A blanket warms the body but a quilt warms the soul. You made a person very happy today.

Just goes to show that when you do a kindness for a friend..you don't really know how deeply it will be felt. You are really a special friend to her!!

I thought this was going to have a different ending, but so glad it had a happy one. I thought the friend didn't like the binding. You're a true friend to work on someone else's quilt! Big HUGS sent your way!!
