Replacing needle threader on Janome 6600

I was wondering if anyone has had the experience of replacing the needle threader on this make and model of machine. The original one on the machine just plain quit working...so I ordered a replacement part (original) and now I am not having any luck finding out how to get the new one on the machine..I sure would appreciate any help that you may be able to give me.

Thanks!

Hope someone comes by to help. Just wanted to say the 6600 is one sweet machine. I think it is the model they have kept in production the longest.

I had mine fixed as part of a regular service...a mechanic I'm not ;)

See if you can read this. If not, PM me your email & I'll send it. I have the Service Manual.

I have a Bernina 820 Patchwork edition. My threader quit about a year after I bought it. I never thought about replacing it myself. Think I'll see if I can find instructions before I order one. Thank you for the idea and for being brave enough to do this!

This is awesome...I will give it a try tomorrow... Many thanks.

I've replaced the threader several times on my Brother machines. Just follow instructions--you won't break the machine!.

I replaced the needle threader on my Pfaff once. It was easy. The entire unit just came out, like in your diagram above. And the new unit slides up in. The only thing I did wrong is the new unit isn't in the exact spot, so I have to use the handwheel to move the needle down about a sixteenth of an inch for the threader to pop into the hole of the needle. I remember the instructions said to make sure the unit is pushed all the way up inside. It seems like I pushed mine in too far, but that doesn't seem possible. Good luck, you can do it!

Mdegenhart, where did you get a hold of a service manual for the 6600? My 6600 is 10 years old and still going strong but the closest Janome tech is an hour away... I am pretty mechanically inclined so I am not afraid to do small fixes myself. Thanks.

Thanks folks. My threader just fell off my 6600. I ordered the service manual and hope to fix it myself.
