Replacing OttLite Bulb

I'm trying to replace a bulb in my Ott Lite. I was having problems last weekend so I emailed their online customer service since their phone lines are only open 8:30 to 5:30 M - F which are times I am at work. The rep was really nice but apparently the procedure to replace the bulb can only be conveyed to you by phone. I don't know if it's that its so secret or just so complicated. I have replace other Ott Lite bulbs with no problem. I made sure I had the correct bulb but can't seem to get anyone to tell me what the magic is that makes it work. Has anyone replaced one of the 18W "B" bulbs in a fixture and knows the super secret method? I don't know when I'll be able to contact them by phone to learn how to do it.

Patrice, I think it is on YouTube. Hope that helps.

Thanks SewingSew. I should have thought of that. I wonder why the customer service person didn't just send me there?

I don't know. I have 5 Ottlites, so it is good to know. I don't know where I'd be without YouTube.

I know right? You can find out how to do almost anything on Youtube.

Well, I looked there. The way they show it doesn't work with mine. The problem I am having is that the bulb does not click in the way they show it. I'll give it one more try tonight before I give and just go to Lowe's a buy something else.

On another note. When Hancock's was going out of business I bought all the Ott bulbs that fit my light fixtures at 60% off. Some were 75% off later on. A few dollars now instead of a lot of dollars later is a big savings. One customer told me her ott bulb was still working so she didn't need one. ? It's bound to burn out sometime. Bulbs are a consumable item. You will need more.

I read a how to in the Amazon reviews of this bulb.

I've already read the how-to and looked at the Youtube. I have an older light and the rep said that some of them had some problem that made them harder to insert the new bulb. I seem to have one of those. I've replaced OttLite bulbs before with no problem but this one will not snap in. If I can't figure it out, I'll probably just throw in the towel and get a different light. Preferably one with some help that doesn't close up shop about the time I get off work.

I read the new bulbs won't fit the older lamps. I have some of the older bulbs I bought when Hancock's went out of business the first time. LOL.
