I use sheets alot. a friend gave me 5 sets one day. :-D :-DAnd I have a batch of flannel shirts I am going to use to make the back of my youngest sones flannel quilt.(got new for the front) good luck with the job. cannot think of a better place for a quilter to work.

Yes, I belive in repurposing things. My daughter loves to thrift shop and since she moved out that is our time together. I have bought fabric and sheets. I never thought of men's flannel and hawaiian shirts, so thanks for the insight everone! Back to the thrift store!

I like it that used material has been washed. Have you ever noticed the water when you wash new material or new clothing???

whenever I bring home clothes/fabric from thrift stores it immediately goes in the dryer. A friend had bedbugs invade her home and she was told that all fabric had to be run through the dryer to kill them. I do this even before washing the fabric.

I sewed many, many old men's neckties into a skirt for my daughters Recycle Fashion Show. Fun :)

I cut up old sheets and old mattress pads in squares to use as practice FMQ sandwiches.

Place a small piece on a piece of foil. Light it with a match.
If it melts to a lump- it is poly or a poly blend

If it is 100% cotton, it will form an ash.

I love to reuse fabric. My son's fancy crib sheet became my calf length half slip. My sister in law's coat got braided into the rug at my front door. Second hand wool coats were scarce around town when I was in that phase, but it's hard on the hands. My favorite thing is to get linen table cloths from the thrift shop and cut them into four tea towels and roll hem them. I like large, absorbent tea towels.
