I like the FW because it only weighs 11 pounds and is small and very portable, its also all metal, and they last forever, the only drawback I have found is that it has such a small throat plate, but they stitch beautifully, check your local antique dealers, craigs list and of course ebay to purchase one

Good for you! You will love it. I pd $350.00 for mine on ebay and was thrilled. I think you got a good price. We hear of those who are lucky enough to find one under $50.00 but you have to be at the right place at the right time. My husbands cousin came to visit one day and gave me her mother's featherweight and the card table that she bought with it. I love it.

Are you the lucky one, or what! Good price, I think. All at once, I got myself three, yes 3! All were priced well on eBay and closed at an odd time, I think. Doing the happy dance and trying to learn all about them; then I want to spiff them up and put them to good use. :D :D :D

Please, can you explain to me why featherweights are so sought after?

Yes, please, I have never heard of a featherweight until I joined this wonderful newsletter.
