That's where I'm at. I have a large UFO currently on a longarm, I added wide borders (which has helped a little bit) but the colors are outdated, the applique poorly done, and I'm looking at it as primarily a practice piece. Ironically, the quilting I've done on the borders so far looks fantastic! Why couldn't I have done that for my last give away quilt?

But you see, Ice Blossom, that you are now an experienced Frolic piecer. You will recognize, easily, the next step and be able to just slap it together without hardly looking.
When I have to teach a new employee a different task, it takes the 2nd or 3rd time before the "get it".
Let me look at this one more time. I do have it gathered up on the cutting table.

I have come across some UFO’s at the thrift store. Once I got a bag of 9 patch blocks and made an Irish Chain quilt. A lot of the blocks needed to be re-sewn but it turned out nicely and the new owner (my daughter) loves it! Another time I got a bunch of squares already cut. I bought some contrasting color yardage to make 9 patch blocks out of them and made a Dissapearing 9 Patch which was donated to someone in a nursing home. I will decide not to finish UFO’s if it looks like it may turn into a problem.

(Before COVID) At a local group's annual fabric/yarn fundraiser the UFO table has been my first target! Finding a set of slightly unequal blocks, or orphan leftover blocks, or part of a series or BOM quilt ... gives me fodder for the next few charity quilts I make. Here's hoping they get to hold it next year -- it should be twice as big after this year's was cancelled!
I have also bought gently used 100% cotton men's shirts at thrift shop sales. The back of a Large shirt is bigger than a fat quarter!

I just pulled a"pickle dish quilt off the long arm that I bought from a friend (who got it from a relative) that I now wish I hadn't bothered with. The stitches on the seams were rather long so I worried about the seams pulling apart. And it was not paper pieced and the piecer seemed to have trouble getting the points to line up accurately. Lots of "D cups" and the borders definitely not straight--lots of work. I bought it basically cause I figured I'd never make a pickle dish quilt and I liked the colors and wanted to quilt one with motifs in the "centers". I'll finish the binding and probably throw it on the guest room bed until I decide who to give it to.
