Great tips girls! Thanks. I sometimes use a dental threader too. A tip I got from a teacher for my serger and works on the bernina if I am using a large eye needle. I have heard that sometimes it isn't the thread but the needle that should be moistened and wiped off. I have resorted to the white piece of cardstock paper too. It is a good tip. Just place it behind the needle and you can see better to thread it.

While mentoring in a HS sewing class this spring I saw several kids doing this same method of threading the needle, then inserting into the machine--looked odd at first, but it worked and for one boy in particular, who was very vision impaired and needing new glasses that were out of family price range, it was the only way he could thread the machine.

Thanks for this hint. Sometimes I just can't get the needle threaded. I am getting a cataract and depending on the light, I have a hard time threading the machine.

I just use one of those inexpensive little needle threaders.

I learned this from a Libby Lehman's class. Run the thread down the shaft of the needle on the side of the hole. The thread goes right in the needle hole every time. I use this method more then the threader on my machine.

wow...great tips....sometimes we just get the wrong needle/thread combination and we become stuck in time. I learn something new every time.

Glad that you found a tip that works. I usually use a bigger needle (14/90) and the eye seems to be a bit bigger.

Haven't had that problem in years. My Pfaff has a built in needle threaded.

I wish I had thought of this years ago. My sister was half blind and could never thread her machine....what a save this would have been for her!!
