I have often found that when I cannot find just the right shade of fabric for something, if I turn one over, wa-la there is just the perf. color I need. It's like having 2 for the price of 1.

I used the reverse of a red floral fabric when I made my red and white w/embroidery quilt. It toned down the print to just the perfect shade I needed. Am also using some reverse sides to a yellow print in a postage stamp quilt I'm currently working on. It also tones down the color to the shade I need. I say, use whatever side pleases you most!

They have been doing this in Hawaii forever... using the back side of a very bright print to make a more muted "Aloha" shirt, or muu-muu. It's beautiful.

I accidentally made a bunch of quilt blocks with the prints wrong side out, and decided I like them!

I have used the reverse often. Why not use whatever side fits the project. This started when I bought batiks!!!

Absolutely....use either side of the fabric for the color you want!! Like mtnative said,"you pay for both sides of the fabrice" (lol) Cute expression!!

You PAID for both sides - use either side that looks best to you! Sometimes I do a design that just uses the back and front of the same fabric, if there's enough contrast. Sometimes the "back" side is prettier for what I'm doing. You're OK either way.

I've noticed that on fabrics too, if it looks good reversed why not use it that way?

If you don't believe me (or rather help me feel I'm not way out there) take a piece of a floral or bright fabric and see what I mean. Would the fabric, after it is washed, fade differently?

I'm anxious to try this but not if it's not a good idea. Thanks fellow quilters! I look forward to hearing from you.

You can get really interesting effects by using both the right side and the reverse in the same quilt. If it looks good to you, that's all that counts. froggyintexas

I have a beautiful batik with sea horses and my plan is to fussy cut the sea horses using both sides. I will use to smaller sea horses reverse side to show depth of field.
