Has anyone made a reversible quilt please??

I have made several of the reversible quilts. Love this method. The book I have is REVERSIBLE QUILTS TWO AT A TIME by Sharon Pederson. If I can help you just let me know.

I have made a few, just basically made two tops and put them together. One for my grandson, is grownup on one side, and younger on the other side, he uses the grown up side now that he is 10 yrs. old. The other was my DD's cat quilt, it is on here somewhere if you want to take a look.

Okay, I give, can't figure why it is putting my civil war quilt pictures on instead of the motorcycle quitl. So sorry.

I am seeing the motorcyles and it is fabulous ! Love the big squares looks like it would be quick and fast to put together :lol: Just my type LOL

I am attempting a reversible quilt & I need a few pointers. I really need to be able to quilt the front & back independent of each other and join them together. The front/back designs & materials are different so that a common quilting design will not work. Know of a technique I can use? Other Suggestions?

you could always use light weight batting and muslin to quilt each one independently.

then you can join them together with a tacking stitch and invisible thread and then do one binding using a deco stitch that would look nice from both sides.

The book with the best instructions I have read to make reversible quilts is by Anita Murphy. It was one of my first quilt books and I have about worn it out. It's fool proof from quilt as you go to making reversible binding.

I think the motorcycle quilt is great. What a great idea.

Okay, what is going on, as any of you who were on earlier saw, the CW quilt pictures were on this site, now the motor cycle, dirt bike really, pictures are on. I don't get it, but I"m glad the right ones are here finally.

I would also say to use thin batting and quilt each side separately and then tie the two sides together.

The Quilt Yard(TM) has a video called The Cotton Theory(TM) - Fold and Finish Procedure(TM) (they seem to TM everything LOL) It is a way to make reversible quilts. Pretty cool stuff. I got it at the library. Check yours :)

i just ordered Anita Murphys book mentioned here. i have Sharon's.

Went to a quilt show and home tour yesterday. In one of the homes there was a reversible quilt on a bed and it was done the way we were talking about. Doing each side separately and then putting them together. The back of this quilt was quilted in a crosshatch design, the front in a quarter inch echo. So it can be done. And it looked nice too, couldn't touch so not sure how they held it together.

This probably isn't what you want, but here is my only experience with a reversible quilt which I made it in a simple way. One side was a multicolored double wedding ring, cream background, multiple borders, one being dark blue. On the other side, I only used the pretty cream so the quilting showed up really well, and the dark blue for a border. This gave the choice of a many colored wedding pattern or a simple but elegant side. I made decorative pillows, some with multiple colors, others with only cream and dark blue. Each can give a bedroom a completely different look.
