I have a quilting project that one of my granddaughters would like to have rhinestones affixed to. I have no experience with these but with 7 granddaughters I think it would get a good work out. Would appreciate any feedback on the different brands or referral to any reviews of products that you are familiar with. I did google but came up with no reviews. My biggest concern is to get one that when washed the rhinestones don't fall off. Thanks, Ann in TN

I love the hot fix.......I've used it on several projects.....Washed items, but not dried.....They stayed in place.....To me it's easier than hand glueing and placing.....

The hot fix go on a little neater IMHO
You don't have to worry about using just the "right" amount of glue and it dripping/smearing where you don't want it. |
I've just used my hot fix one time, haven't washed yet but most any adhesive should have minimal heat , I think warm wash/dry would be fine. I agree it's so much neater to use, the crystals cost more tho.

I use the hot fix on several pairs of jeans that I embroidered on and they work great. The jeans have been washed, and washed, and washed. I don't think I have lost a one of them. And, I also put in the dryer and have not had a problem there either.

So, what brand of iron/wand are you using? I am wondering if some are better than others.

Do you use the Electric iron or the battery type to apply
the stones? I looked at both and desided to get the Electric, didn't think the battery type would get that hot, and I wrong? |
The hot fix works and is easy, I got mine at Hobby Lobby. But if you want to do it by hand Allenes Jewel It Glue is the best. I got it at JoAnn's. Has lasted through many, many washings and drying in the dryer.

i added some hot-fix crystals to my granddaughter's (Ashley's Ocean) quilt- they have lived through a few washing/drying's in the 3 years she has had the quilt- and added just the right amount of (bling!)
Thread Art catalog is one source i purchased my tool- and the crystals at the lqs. |
I haven't done quilts, only skating costumes.
I prefer glue on with E6000. Have washed many times, and no loss. |
