This may end up being a long post since when I start talking about my dog, it's hard to know where to stop. I'm sure all the pet lovers out there can relate. Anyway we adopted our RR after Katrina/Rita from the RR Rescue in Texas. He's been a great addition to our family.

Rhodies are great dogs. Friends in Swaziland rescued one and she ended up giving back: in litters as large as 15 puppies!

Great quilt! A 'rescue' fund raiser quilt is exactly how I started down the quilting path. It's a bit of a shaggy dog story (pun intended) that I will save until I have a little more time. :)

Yeah - there's a you tube video of the largest litter from a news program and it's a Rhodie. They're the gift that can keep on giving.

More about my great big boy - His name is Rufus which happened to be my grandfather's name. We found our Rufus via the Rescue site. So after checking with my dad that that name wouldn't be an issue. We started the adoption process. On the internet he was nicknamed Shorty. (My hero cousin who died in Viet Nam was nicknamed Shorty. He was also a grandson of Rufus). Rufus was a smaller dog but riddled with heartworm and going through his last round of treatments. He couldn't be released from the state of TX until clear. Finally in October we were able to drive down and meet our boy. He was perfect. Exactly what we wanted. We found him on a ranch on Bell avenue. (My grandpa Rufus had married Myrtle "Bell". Oh there are other quirks that make our connection a meant-to-be-one, but these are the most important to me.

I love to hear about the different rescue groups. Basically, they are all the same - it's all about the dogs.
