Rhonda's Tip of the Day 2 - Drunkard's Path template

When I wrote my Drunkard's Path tutorial I was mostly doing 1 1/2" blocks so I only showed how to make a 2" circle for making the yoyo part of my process.

I just realized yesterday that the lid off of a Pringles can is a perfect template for a 2 1/2" Drunkard's Path block. It is a hair more than 3" and works perfectly for making a 3" circle. I trimmed off the edge with scissors down to the circle top. Then I made sure I trimmed it evenly so there were no jagged edges.

I always use Magic Sizing and I soak my yoyo well on both sides and iron well (no wimpy pressing)and hard on both sides. I like my yoyos flat as possible. They stiffen up better that way. I did this with the pringle lid and it worked really well.

The plastic is nice and sturdy and didn't buckle under the heat. There was a bit of stickiness where I accidently touched the bare plastic but it still wasn't bad. Only my thread stuck to it not the iron. No plastic residue on my iron at all. But I will be a bit more careful next time not to actually touch the iron to the bare plastic.

You can hardly see the sides of the lid in my pictures but the one that looks thicker is the lid before I trimmed it. Here is the link to my Drunkard's Path block directions done my way of course!
