I m used to cm you see

1/4" is smaller than 3/8"

don't be embarrassed, sunnyhope. you should watch me in the grocery store, trying to figure out how many ounces there are in something marked in metric. i'm totally and hopelessly confused by the whole system.

i am gettin better at inches but those small numbers really confuses me and in this country we use cm and km when we drive, not miles and we use grams and kg instead of ounches and stuff so its a bit of a change to be honest
|
I just searched WIDE RIC RAC and found some at this site that is 18mm (3/4 inch) http://www.ribbonsgalore.com.au/shop...ort=20a&page=2
|
1/4 = 2/8 and therefore it is less than (smaller than) 3/8
Think of 3/8 as bigger than a 1/4 but less than 1/2 |

I have a friend that is from Japan. All the measuring drove her crazy when she first moved to America. She always used a ruler with metric on one side and standard American on the other. She always carried the ruler in her purse so she could get it out and compare the metric measurements she understood to the American.

Don't know where you live, I was at the San Diego Quilt Show last week and a vendor was there selling rick rack in all sizes. If you are close to any large cities, you might watch for quilt shows in your area, there is usually a vendor there. Good luck.

i m in NORWAY so i m pretty far away from the land of goodies and all sorts

My tape measure has metric on one side, inches on the other. I use that tape for conversion, close enough for me.
