How do I tell which is the right side of black fabric?

If you can't tell by look or feel, just don't worry about it!

I agree. If you can't tell, no one else will be able to tell either!

Just to be sure and use the same side all the way thru. Sometimes there is a very sidle (sp) difference and you really can't tell until it is all together. Just my thought.

I agree. As long as you use the same side throughout it will be fine.

I have the same problem with most solids  LOL

I hold it under a very bright light. Usually the right side is fuzzier. Usually!

Sometimes you can tell by the weave. The front may be more raised and the back more flat. Whichever you choose, it will be easier to be consistent if you mark the backside with a chalk pencil every couple of inches before you cut it. It saves having to decide each time you pick up a piece.

every fabric has 2 sides, neither right or wrong, just 2 different sides. both side can be used any way you see fit. if you like one side better than the other side that's the side to use. it does not matter if it is brighter or dull-er, it just matters which side works best for what you are doing.
don't sweat the small stuff...
