Have you ever have one of those days that every thing you touch went wrong. I am doing a 10 minute block and I was doing so good . Yea, I thought I did one side then did the other side last night. Today I was so happy I was going to the middle seam. I pick up the first one and had sew one with the inside out. Looked through and sure enough there was four more. I put them to the side and started on the middle and for the life of me, I could not get a straight seam. After take it out over and over. I came up with a way that work for me I line one side up and sew it the I do the same to the other side, it worked. Hooray. Now maybe I will be able to do it in 10 minutes, or not!!! We will see.

Ahhhh...I recognize that song......lol

clynns 07-12-2011 02:15 PM

I think you had a camera on me when I did that block. LOL I finally started pinning everywhere that I had to sew. And then turned right side out to make sure that I had made 'contact' with the alledged seam that I needed to sew. It will get better. When you have to rip it out more than once, it's time to put it away for the day or night and rest your mind. Do something nice for yourself. You deserve it. - Cheryl

Been there done that

sewmuchmore 07-12-2011 03:11 PM

Makes you wonder why they call it a 10 minute block

SparkMonkey 07-12-2011 03:18 PM

I will never forget the time I managed to sew a 14-inch zipper into a top--with the top TWISTED around the neckline! I've sewed dozens of zippers, and that's the only time I haven't managed to get it right on the first try. I still have no earthly idea how I managed to do that. After the initial fit of rage, I had a good laugh and a beer and put it in a time-out til the next day. ;)

quilttiludrop 07-12-2011 03:18 PM

Play some music while you rip! It makes the time go by a little easier! We've all been there!

Sorry to say, but you're speaking my language.

Some days are good, some days are like today. Better luck tomorrow.

My mother always said"if you have to rip something out it will be used a lot longer" so I often think of her because I am always ripping............

I second that. When you keep you repeating the same mistake over and over, expecting different results....

mzmama 07-12-2011 05:32 PM

Are we having fun yet????

whinnytoo 07-12-2011 05:49 PM

I spent 4 hrs frogging today,,,,,,,, rip it, rip it , rip it.

vbourck 07-12-2011 05:56 PM

What is it today? I also did a lot of rip it- working on OBW for my daughter and forgot to square it up- then put a couple of borders before I realized it was way off, so off come the borders, and got it squared. try try again.........

Mommo 07-12-2011 05:58 PM

My first 10 minute block was definitely longer than 10 minutes! I do love the
Technique. I am working on one using charm squares. Really fast!

caliquocat 07-12-2011 11:18 PM

I remember saying, "removing stitches teaches me patience". I don't know where in the world I got THAT idea!
;-)

tammy cosper 07-13-2011 01:01 AM

Lol...yeah...I pretty much hate those days.
I'm like Liz Porter...I might not like doing something a certain way, but I hate ripping out more.lol
At least you got it figured out.

justlooking 07-13-2011 01:57 AM

I think we have all did that sometimes or another. Sometimes more than once. :)

meanmom 07-13-2011 03:29 AM

i was working on my quilting fairy godmother the other night. I had to rip numerous seams because I did stupid things like sew the wrong color on. Used too small of a piece of fabric. That is why you shouldn't sew until 2:00 AM

Stitchnripper 07-13-2011 03:34 AM

Oh gosh, that is me too. I was ironing my latest "creation" and realized there were three half square triangle blocks in various places turned wrong!! It took a long time to rip and resew. Oy.

Right!!! Like it has been said..."Some days you are the pigeon, and other days you are the statue!"

Val in IN 07-13-2011 06:14 AM

Yep, me too. I spent some quality time with my seam ripper last night "unsewing" a purse lining that I had put on the wrong side. As the saying goes..."As you sew, so shall you rip" :-)

Doreen 07-13-2011 06:18 AM

Some times I spend way too much time ripping because of trying to hurry.

Katts 14 07-13-2011 06:19 AM

Thank God thier are some mistakes we can FIX!!!!!!

Jo Belmont 07-13-2011 06:32 AM

Yep. My first ten-minute block only took two hours. But after a while, it really does take only ten minutes. Stick with it and it will be great fun.

ShirlinAZ 07-13-2011 07:24 AM

Yep! That was my FMQ yesterday. Ripped out everything I sewed AT LEAST TWICE! Grrrrr!!!

skydiver70 07-13-2011 07:40 AM

I did that, too. I would have to go back to the computer and check again for the instructions. I finally got one done and put it up and haven't touched it since. I plan to keep trying though.

sewmuchmore 07-13-2011 08:25 AM

After all that ripping out and strating over my son came in a said Mom that would be perfect for my bed. But I you will have to take out the brown. :x Grrrrrr the brown is staying it he wants it, it go as is.

grandjan 07-13-2011 08:38 AM

Oh yes. I was sewing a shirt a couple of weeks ago and neatly set the sleeve in . . . to the neck opening. Grrr.
