Has anyone experienced any problems machine quilting with this brand of thread? The reason I asked, is that it left loops on the backside of my quilt. I changed thread and now it's sewing great.

You may have fixed a threading problem, such as tension or bobbin threading, by changing thread. You might also have just gotten a bad spool of RA; that happens sometimes will all brands of thread.

I don't use RA cotton thread because it seems to leave more lint in my machine than other brands of thread that I use. When I sew with RA, I end up cleaning my machine about three times as often as with others. I can't even get through an entire bobbin of RA thread without my machine telling me that the bobbin area needs to be cleaned.

I wish I could use it, because the line has beautiful colors!

I didn't have a loop problem, but it sure produces a lot of lint.

I tried all the usual things, like cleaning my machine, new needle, rethreading of machine and still had the loops. I think my machine just doesn't like sewing with RA. I didn't know about the lint, I probably won't use it now.

I got a lot of lint from it too and had a problem with the thread breaking.

All I can add is if you think RA is linty--Don't buy Coats & Clark or Star. Up until a few months ago, I had been using Coats & Clark but had to take the machine in for service. I knew it was linty but I just dealt with it. Well, I didn't deal with it soon enough and it pulled a lint ball up into the tension assembly. Not a problem on a mechanical machine where it just pops off. Big problem on a computerized machine so it had to go to the hospital for 2 weeks! And, that cheap thread cost me $80 in repair bills.

I had used Sulky Blendables with wonderful results but it was a gift. It caused sticker shock when I went to buy more so I just kept fighting with the C&C until the repair bill. Now I've got some King Tut which everyone just raves about and I bought some Sulky. Both were on sale at Joanns.com with reduced shipping last week.

I plan to get my hands on some of the Essentials Threads of Connecting Threads and ThreadArt brands. It is my new mission to find out which threads my Voyager likes/doesn't like and give my poor Elna a break from all the lint. I'm even changing the multi-purpose general sewing thread to something less linty for the poor baby.

Sometimes pulling the thread out of the machine when you change to another spool, can bring a little piece of thread with it... then we think it was the thread itself that caused the problem when the new spool works fine :wink:

Try it again on a scrap sandwich and see how it works for you :D:D:D

If you don't like lint, try Presencia or Superior (King Tut in 40 wt). Red Rock Threads (www.redrockthreads.com) and Sew Thankful (www.sewthankful.com) both carry these brands, have very reasonable shipping, and often put thread on sale.

Yes, this thread is more expensive than Connecting Threads, C&C, and RA. Like BKressing says, using cheap thread cost her $80, and it could have been more.

After the sticker shock of buying my Bernina 730E two years ago, I decided to spend a bit more on thread, if it would help make keep my machine running smoothly and without a problem. I sure can't afford to buy another sewing machine right now.

(I just saw the newest BabyLock last week when I went in to buy a clear serger foot, WOW! Is it a show stopper. But I have always had champaign taste and a beer budget! LOL...)

I have one spool of RA that will not work on my machine. All the others work great.

I just wish I'd ask you guys about this thread before buying it, oh well, live and learn!

I find that I need to change the tension with RA thread.
once I get the tension adjusted it works great.
I had some of the same problems thread breaking, loops etc.
I would try a sandwich also and adjust until you get the stitch you want.
I find that it does make lint but so do some others. I clean my bobbin area with each bobbin change, even when piecing.

I bought a large spool of presencia thread for the longarm. It had so much lint, we kept cleaning it up finally threw it out. Superior threads seem to work the best with the longarm and my Janome.

I have been using Presencia for about a year, and I use the 50, 60, and 40 weights. I had this experience with one spool of Presencia. You might have gotten a bad spool. When this happened to me, I contacted Red Rocks. They sent me a replacement spool. It was fine. If that would have happened to me on my first spool, I never would have bought a second spool! LOL!
