Can I use 45mm Olfa blades in my 45mm Fiskars handle?
This might be a silly question but it's the first time I've had to buy replacement blades since I bought it and I'm having a hard time finding Fiskars. |
I don't think that it makes any difference...
45mm is 45mm Kirsten |
I think so. I used to use a fiskars all the time, I now have an ergonomic cutter and use olfa blades in them. I was about to shout a roaring "Yes" but maybe there is something on the inside center of the blade that is different.
|
Yes you can.....simple as that....
|
I would think that the 45mm unless it's different would be universal. I am going to find out soon myself(I ordered some blades for my Olfa that aren't ofla)
Intresting question, will be watching this. |
Thanks for the feedback.
I figured that the 45mm part would be the same. I just didn't know if the middle hole was a proprietary shape between brands, forcing you to continue buying their brand. |
I've used the Olfa blades in several different kinds of cutters that weren't Olfa.
|
I always buy what is on sale, never a problem. Lately, I have seen some used in scrapbooking cutters that seemed like a plastic flange had been attached, and I doubt if they would work.
|
not a silly question at all, I just asked it the other day. The lady at the cutting counter said they're all interchangable and answered yes when I asked if she was a quilter LOL.
Moonpi, thanks for that! My DH just gave me a Fiskars from his paper cutting one and I was thinking about trying it. |
maybe I'll do an experiment on some scraps and let you all know about the paper one...it's still brand new in the package.
|
Cool. I can buy what's on sale then.
|
I use whatever I can find in my Fiskars and I have never had a problem.
|
The ones I was talking about had pastel colored plastic added in the center. I have a Fiskers paper cutter that takes the standard blades, but these are something new.

Just found out the hard way that Clover blades don't fit Olfa....bummer, got to wait til next week as they have to be ordered in....grrrhhhhh, got a blunt spot and it drives me mad going back cutting the little missed bits :x

I buy generic blades at JHittle and use them on 3 different brand cutters.
I have never found a problem with any of them. June |

Well, thanks for letting me know that at least some aren't interchangeable. |
I buy the generic for my olfa, they work fine
|
I have both, My experience is If you have a handle with little ledges for a better word where the blades go, you can only use safely a blade that has the cut outs to fit them. You can use a blade that has the cutouts with one that doesn't have the little ledges. Some of the blades have just round holes, they will not fit safely on the handle with the little ledges.
IS THIS CLEAR AS MUD OR WHAT? Go figure.  |
So I don't have to buy special ones for my ergonomic rotary cutter?
|
You just have to experiement. Some are not interchangable due to the screw that attaches them. So some work better than others. It might be that the cutters have become more universal the last few years.
|
I was just thinking about that myself,so I took mine apart and compared my olfa to my friskars and they are the same.Thabks for the information about the Clover blades!

They said they could not verify if they were really new. Since then for my Olfa cutter(s) I only by Olfa. |
